The Training Strategy

What is the Strategic Training Roadmap Training Strategy?

The Training Strategy document will provide a blueprint to create the training and learning necessary to support the business goals of the company and provide employees with growth opportunities. It will answer the following questions:

  Who needs to be trained?
ePath Learning will define each group (or audience) that needs training to successfully perform in his/her job.

What does each audience need to be trained on?
This approach includes a definition of the training objectives for each audience and a high-level outline of the content of the training for each audience.

When and where the training should occur?
We will address the appropriate timing and location for the training.

  How should they be trained?
There are many options available to support job performance with training/learning.  ePath Learning will recommend the delivery method that is most appropriate for the audience, the company’ environment, the time available, the costs, and the training objectives.

How will training materials be developed/acquired and implemented?
If it has been determined that an off-the-shelf option will work for you, we will help you purchase the training and/or training platform and a plan will be defined for the acquisition and maintenance of the training.  For custom developed training, a plan will be devised that addresses who will provide the subject-matter expertise, who will actually develop the materials, and the long-term plan for the training materials.

Resources Available to Support Training
This portion of the Training Strategy document summarizes existing resources that can be utilized to support training including:
Does the current available training that effectively meets the audience needs
Physical resources (classrooms, etc.) available to support traditional training/learning options
Capabilities and accessibility of computer networks to support various technology-supported training/learning options.  Technology options can include asynchronous learning strategies (e.g., computer-based training, web-based training, multimedia presentations, on-line reference tools, etc.) and synchronous distance learning (e.g., virtual classrooms).
People, who are usually subject-matter experts, that are utilized on an on-going basis or for the development of custom-built courses.
In addition to the audience analysis interviews, we will discuss the current technology environment with you as well as future plans, and establish policies and procedures with the appropriate network and IT resources.

Definition of Curriculum
The data gathered on training needs includes:
What training is in place and working well
What is available but could use improvement
What is missing and needed
What might be nice to have

This listing  is just a sampling of the questions that are addressed in the strategy stage.  Once the data is collected and analyzed the result is a recommended curriculum and a matrix that identifies learning objectives by audience. A curriculum defines what needs to be included in the training. The next question is can you buy effective training or should you build it?
