THE VITAMIN SHOPPE ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC LEARNING INITIATIVE: ENHANCES TRAINING WITH ePATH LEARNING ASAP+
THE VITAMIN SHOPPE ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC LEARNING INITIATIVE:
ENHANCES TRAINING WITH ePATH LEARNING ASAP+
National Retailer Plans to Provide Online Access to All 2,000 Employees and
Reduce Its Training Cycle From Two years to Just Six Months
NEW LONDON, CONN, April 26, 2005 /PRNewswire/ – In an effort to create the most knowledgeable associates in the industry, The Vitamin Shoppe, the leading retailer and premiere authority of quality vitamins and nutritional supplements, today announced that it has selected ePath Learning®, a leader in the creation of browser-based learning technologies, as its universal learning partner. Developed and delivered through ePath Learning ASAP+ SM, this strategic learning initiative will result in the creation of Vitamin Shoppe University, a web based, ‘blended’ learning environment for The Vitamin Shoppe’s product and customer interaction training, and will ensure that the associates in all 250 existing stores, and 60 new locations are educated on products that promote a healthy lifestyle and overall wellness.
The company plans to roll out its training courses first to its retail stores, then to its corporate office, customer care center and distribution center. With over 8500 products, The Vitamin Shoppe’s plan to provide a web based curriculum to its associates is a tall order, but fortunately creating a comprehensive learning culture within its organization is an integral part of the company’s strategic initiatives. In addition to creating a program that will reward associates for knowledge, the retailer will create daily e-Briefings to ensure associates are current on all information related to nutritional supplements and dietary trends.
“Our learning initiative is very important to our overall business strategy. Our associates, known as ‘Health Enthusiasts,’ assist our customers – who are health enthusiasts themselves – by guiding them to the right product.” said David Fitton, Director of Learning and Organizational Development. “Vitamin Shoppe University will better equip our associates to provide accurate, consistent and credible information to our customers, which furthers our mission of being not only the leader in high quality supplements, but also to be the leading provider of health information in our industry.”
The Vitamin Shoppe will deploy ePath Learning’s ASAP+, leveraging the company’s Web-based Integrated Learning Management Service (iLMS), to create and manage the Vitamin Shoppe University and all its eLearning and classroom-based training. All of the company’s courses are developed to meet Dietary Supplementary Education Act (DSHEA) standards. The new learning technology will complement its comprehensive information kiosk in its stores, as the catalyst to launch all of its locations onto the Internet in late June. Once completed, Vitamin Shoppe associates will be able to secure all of their learning via a single, online learning portal.
“We are partnering with The Vitamin Shoppe at a critical juncture in their ongoing growth. From competency identification and skill gap analysis through course development and training assessment, we are providing them with a single source to address all of their needs.” said Dudley Molina, President and CEO of ePath Learning. “While our PRO-SERVICES team will be conducting the heavy lifting, all of the learning will be delivered, measured and evaluated though our Integrated Learning Management Service. This is a perfect example of the effectiveness and speed of implementation that is available to customers that leverage both our team and technology against their strategic learning initiatives.”
